Application process

Current vacancies

A list of current vacancies can be found on our website. If you can’t see a role of interest currently, you are welcome to register your details in the portal and create a job alert when a position becomes available.

Preparing your application

To prepare for submitting your application, you will need to have:

  • a current copy of your CV
  • a covering letter summarising your reasons for applying.

Both documents should be saved either in Word or PDF format so they can be uploaded when you complete your application online.

Applying online

When you apply for a vacant role, you will be prompted to either ‘log in’ using your current username and password or ‘register’ if you are a new user.

If you are a new user, you will need to enter your personal information, then upload your CV and cover letter before applying.  If you already have an account, double check your personal details and contact information are up-to-date and that your latest CV and cover letter are uploaded.

Once you click apply, if your application has been successfully uploaded to our online system you will receive an email notification confirming we have received your application.

If you do not receive a confirmation email after submitting your application, check the ‘junk’ folder in your emails or you are experiencing other issues when applying, please contact the recruitment team at careers@nswcc.org.au

When will I hear back about my application?

We may contact you to over the phone initially to discuss your application in further detail. If you are then shortlisted, you will be invited to an interview. If you have not been shortlisted, you will receive an e-mail notification to advise that your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.

Attending an interview

If you are invited to attend an interview, the HR Coordinator at Cancer Council NSW will be in touch with you over the phone to arrange a suitable time and date.  Typically interviews take place face-to-face in one of our offices, however sometimes they may be conducted via video-conference where necessary.

As with each step of the recruitment process, if you have any accessibility requirements or require adjustments to perform to your full potential, we are happy to accommodate where possible.

Reference checks

Reference checks will take place prior to a formal offer of employment being made.  When requested, you will be required to provide contact information for two professional referees, preferably a current or former employer/ manager. We will not contact your referees without your prior permission.

National Police Check

Depending on the nature of the position you have applied for; you may be required to undertake a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process. Read more information about the National Police Check process and how to raise a dispute claim if the National Police Check provides incorrect information to Cancer Council NSW.

Working with Children Check

Depending on the nature of the position you have applied for, you may be required to undertake a Working with Children check as part of the recruitment process.  Checks will be conducted in accordance with current legislation and you will be provided with further information in relation to this where applicable.

Overseas applicants

All applicants must have the existing right to live and work in Australia. Cancer Council NSW can not accept applicants from overseas without valid working rights, unless expressly specified.

Privacy and confidentiality

Confidentiality will be maintained throughout the recruitment process and information held will be in accordance with our privacy policy.

Information for recruitment agencies

Cancer Council NSW does not accept unsolicited resumes from third parties. Cancer Council NSW will not recognise an entitlement to an introduction or placement fee unless the Agency has been briefed by the HR Coordinator on a specific position for which we have requested candidates.
