Training and Follow-up
Purpose
To give your staff the knowledge and skills to address smoking as part of everyday support.
Why this step is important
Training for staff is an essential component of increasing your organisation’s capacity to address smoking. Quality training builds the confidence and skills of your staff so they can provide a deeper level of smoking cessation support to clients.
At the end of the training, your staff will:
- Have a thorough understanding of smoking behaviours, including nicotine addiction and triggers
- Know how to talk to clients about using Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRTs) effectively
- Be able conduct a smoking cessation brief intervention
Training is supplements with ongoing support via phone and email, consolidating learning and providing access to up-to-date smoking cessation information.
