The Dry July Foundation is one of Cancer Council’s biggest national partners, supporting our vision of a cancer free future through their annual Dry July campaign.
Dry July is a fundraiser that encourages Australians to go alcohol-free in July each year to raise funds for people affected by cancer. Since the first Dry July in 2008, the campaign has raised over $60 million dollars for people affected by cancer, and provide funding support to cancer organisations to fund invaluable services for cancer patients, families and carers.
Each year, over 37,000 Australians give up alcohol, and raise funds for the campaign, helping to fund vital projects for those affected by cancer.
We are a proud major beneficiary of the Dry July Foundation, and appreciate their support over the past seven years through the Dry July campaign.
Through this important partnership, Dry July has supported Cancer Council by funding many projects some of which include:
Vital renovations to the Lilier Lodge Accommodation Centre in Wagga Wagga.
Refurbishments to our Cancer Information and Support Services to include information units for cancer patients to use as they complete treatment.
Informational podcasts for patients with advanced cancer.
Transport to treatment vehicles in regional areas.
Since 2019, funds raised through Dry July have gone towards funding our vital 13 11 20 telephone support service where our specialists provide confidential cancer information to more than 37,000 callers across Australia each year.
Without support from partners like the Dry July Foundation and our community, we couldn’t run vital services, such as 13 11 20, for people impacted by cancer and their loved ones.
