Need some quick and easy snack options to keep you energised and sustained until your next meal? We’ve got you covered with five delicious, nutrient-packed snacks that you can whip up in under 5 minutes.
1. Fruit and yoghurt parfait
Sounds fancy, but our parfaits are simple to make and a great way to get fruit, calcium and protein into your day. All you need is yoghurt – whatever your preference, fruit – you can use fresh or canned for convenience, and cereal like muesli. What’s more, you can make it ahead of time and have a parfait in the fridge ready for when you need a snack asap!
2. Vegie sticks and hummus
Vegies sticks and hummus make for a fibre-rich snack that will keep you fuller for longer. Chop up some extra veg when making dinner and store in the fridge ready for a quick snack the next day. Whip up a batch of hummus and portion into individual serves for a quick snack. Alternatively, you can buy a tub of hummus from the supermarket to save time.
3. Crunchy nut and fruit mix
A handful of nuts such as almonds or walnuts are high in ‘good fats’ and contain antioxidants such as vitamin E. Add dried fruit like apricots and sultanas for that sweet hit. Remember to choose the unsalted varieties. Check out our crunchy snack mix recipe for inspiration.
4. Berrylicious smoothie
A fruit smoothie can be a refreshing and healthy snack. Try our berrylicious smoothie. You can change up your smoothies by adding different fruits and vegies. Add a teaspoon of chia seeds for a more filling smoothie.
5. Wholegrain crackers and cheese
Did you know that at least two-thirds of your breads and cereals should be wholegrain or wholemeal varieties? Wholegrains provide fibre and nutrients to help keep us healthy, so make your snack a wholegrain snack! Serve wholegrain crackers with a slice of cheese for added calcium and protein. So easy and nutritious!
