“If you give and it comes from the right place, it is so rewarding”

Daniel Tartak is CEO of Bingo Industries, one of Cancer Council’s longest standing corporate partners. Through his ongoing fundraising and support, he honours two very special women from his family.

A huge loss for our family

A cancer diagnosis of any type rocks your whole family unit to the core. In 2014, our family was sent into a state of turmoil as two of my beautiful Aunties, Rose and Mary, were diagnosed with cancer. Pillars of strength, they had lived amazing lives and truly were the glue that held our family together. We were all devastated when they passed away within a month of each other, at just 57 years old. Experiencing this pain and seeing how it impacted my mother is what has inspired me to make a difference and support others in a similar situation.

Supporting our team

If a staff member is affected by cancer – the Bingo family – we go above and beyond, offering all the support they need. That could be time off to spend with their loved ones, or financial assistance, and it makes no difference if they have been with us years or just a few months. We know cancer affects almost everyone in the world and we do our part to support our people internally.

Giving from the heart

Unfortunately, cancer is something that affects a lot of families and I think that’s why everyone at Bingo is so engaged with the cause. The giving back mentality is part of the culture here and it’s something I would like to sustain for a long time. As well as fundraising internally, we host our Deep Blue Gala Dinner with the whole extended Bingo family, which is truly sensational. This year we were blown away to have raised over $700,000 for our two charities. There’s nothing better in life than giving and, if you give and it comes from the right place, it is so rewarding.

Bingo Industries raised an incredible $353,000 for Cancer Council at their Deep Blue event. This money will go towards the Emergency Financial Assistance program, a vital service which helps people affected by cancer with bill payments and expenses that don’t stop whilst they are in treatment, but may be unable to work.
