What is Shitbox Rally?
Shitbox Rally is a challenge that allows you to push yourself to make a difference in an unthinkable way. During this event teams will drive cars worth just $1,500 across Australia via some of its most formidable roads, all in the name of charity. It is an opportunity to raise awareness and money for Cancer Council while experiencing the adventure of a lifetime. Danielle Merlino, Legal Counsel at Cancer Council NSW, is participating in her 4th Shitbox rally this Autumn, traveling in one of the beat-up cars from Adelaide to Perth!
Why Danielle is participating:
While working at the Cancer Council Danielle has gotten to see firsthand the impact that events like Shitbox Rally have on life-saving cancer research and cancer awareness, “It feels incredible to be part of the rally family, to hear each other’s stories, to share a ridiculous adventure and to know that together we’re making an impact and getting closer to a cancer free future.” explains Danielle. Like many other Australians, Danielle has seen and felt the impact of cancer on her loved ones and knows that fundraising is extremely important to continue lifesaving research and how big of a difference it makes. The fundraising goal for the team this year is $5,000! Every donation, no matter how big or small, plays a huge role in making a positive change for those impacted by cancer.

Danielle has a message for those thinking about joining the fun: “DO IT! You will have the best time. It’s so inspiring getting to spend quality time with Cancer Council’s amazing supporters. You will be constantly breath taken – whether that’s by the scenery, the generosity of people or the crazy costumes you’ll see”.
