Long lunches are a delightful way to spend socialising with your friends and family over the summer months. But sometimes it can be difficult to cater for all dietary limits/restrictions/requirements and food likes and dislikes. That’s where the grazing platter comes into its own!
Grazing platters are all the rage, however they can often be packed full of processed meats and pre-packaged foods that are high in salt and saturated fat. The good news is that it’s easy to make a delicious grazing platter for your next long lunch that is not only visually appealing but healthy too!
Use fresh, seasonal produce
We are fortunate in Australia to have a wide choice of delicious fruit and vegies available to us year around. We eat with our eyes so pile up the platter with lots of seasonal fruits and vegie crudites that will make your platter pop!
Choosing seasonal fruit and veg not only tastes better but is more nutritious than expensive, imported produce.
Go dippy for delicious dips
Dips are an easy way to add colour to the platter. Try these delicious dips, or if time isn’t on your side buy pre-made vegie based dips. Serve with a selection of baked pita chips, crusty sliced wholegrain bread and wholegrain crackers.
Or if you want to add some flair – why not try mini fruit salad parfaits for a delightful end to the long lunch. These can be made a head of time and popped into the fridge until you need them.
