Is your Community Service ready to Tackle Tobacco in 2023/2024?!
By Cancer Council NSW
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are NOW OPEN for Community Service Organisations to participate in the 2023/2024 round of the Tackling Tobacco program.
Cancer Council NSW has implemented the program in over 245 services across NSW since 2006, and this year will be focusing on Community Service Organisations in regional, rural and remote areas of the state.
Tackling Tobacco is an organisational change-based program that aims to end tobacco-related disparities in priority populations in NSW. The program empowers organisations and individuals to tackle smoking through evidence-based quit strategies and support.
We are looking for organisations that are:
Directly supporting members of the community
Not-for-profit, non-government
Located in NSW
Passionate about supporting clients to quit smoking
Wanting to create sustainable and organisational-wide changes
The program is FREE to join and includes training for staff and volunteers, a suite of resources and facilitating monthly steering group meetings. Successful organisations also have dedicated a Cancer Council staff member for 12 months to support and guide organisational changes such as smoke-free signage and Policy updates. A financial grant of up to $5000* may also be available on application, to eligible organisations.
[Tackling Tobacco] is highly effective and provides a great source of information for clinicians on the front line to have brief intervention conversations confidently, compassionately, and sensitively
