All good stories start with a human connection. This is why we often ask our incredible community to share their personal experiences to encourage others to support our work.
But sharing your story is just the beginning – we want you to get as much as possible out of your time as a Cancer Council ambassador.
Which type of ambassador are you?
Our ambassadors usually fall into two categories: community and high profile.
Our community ambassadors tend to be people who have been directly affected by cancer and who want to share their story to encourage others to support our work in some way.
Our high-profile ambassadors are usually well-known Australians who want to use their profile to help raise awareness of what we do.
What can you expect?
All our ambassador relationships are built around trust and a genuine understanding of how you’d like to support our work.
We’ll spend time showing you all the different things we do, so you can decide exactly how you’d like to get involved. Whether you’d like to take part in media interviews, appear in our social media posts, be the face of one of our fundraising campaigns, share your story at one of our events, or make a financial donation – it’s totally up to you, and we’ll work with you to find the involvement that’s right.
And if you have other suggestions for how you can support us – well, we’re all ears! We love hearing our ambassadors’ ideas and will try our best to put them into action.
What’s in it for me?
We want all our ambassadors to love their experience of working with us, which is why we focus on building a two-way relationship with you. You’ll get:
a dedicated relationship manager who’ll be your main point of contact during your time as an ambassador
to meet other Cancer Council ambassadors so you can share your experiences
invited to a range of special Cancer Council events
a six-monthly newsletter, giving you the low down on all our recent news, research highlights and more
exposure on our various social media channels (if desired)
Most importantly, you’ll know that you’re helping do something tangible to help the 144,713 Australians who are diagnosed with cancer each year.
How can I get involved?
It couldn’t be easier! Simply email prteam@nswcc.org.au and one of our team will be in touch within 24 hours.
